The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District-Western Visayas identified the victim as Glenn Cahaponon, 36, of Barangay 1 here. According to a report from the PCG, the victim went boating with his two companions on Sunday morning. While they were sailing, the victim allegedly jumped off the boat and went swimming. However, he was swept by the strong water current, the PCG said. One of his companions tried to rescue him but he failed because he could not swim. After a while, the victim was no longer visible in the water. This prompted his companions to seek help. The victim was found early Monday afternoon, June 12, by rescuers about two nautical miles away from the shoreline of Sitio Sibucao, according to the PCG. He was identified by his family who have received his remains.
