PNP reaffirms commitment to uphold law and order, protect freedom
The celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Philippine Independence Day on Monday, June 12, was an “opportune time” for the Philippine National Police (PNP) to reaffirm its commitment to uphold law and order, and help the government achieve lasting peace and sustained progress.
This was emphasized by PNP Chief Police Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. as he paid tribute to the forebears who exemplified courage and firm resolve to secure the country’s independence from Spanish invaders in 1898.
“Binibigyang halaga natin ngayon ang kabayanihan at katapangan ng lahat ng mga bayaning Pilipino na naging daan upang maitatag ang Republika ng Pilipinas noong June 12, 1898 sa pamamagitan ng deklarasyon ng pambansang kasarinlan (We value today the heroism and courage of all Filipino heroes who paved the way for the establishment of the Republic of the Philippines on June 12, 1898 by declaring our national independence),” Acorda said in a statement.
“Today, we pay fitting tribute to the courage and firm resolve of our forebears who made this happen. We are the proud inheritors of this precious legacy of freedom and independence,” he added.
The PNP Chief recognized all the “fruitful gains” that the Filipinos have established as a nation in the past 125 years.
“The PNP continues to be at the forefront of government efforts to make democracy work by ensuring that every Filipino can enjoy the blessings of our hard won independence, free of foreign control, and threats to peace and stability of our nation,” he noted.
He also thanked the men and women of the PNP for upholding the country’s freedom by ensuring that the public is safe from any security threat, and for maintaining peace and order.
“Katuwang ang ibat-ibang sektor ng ating lipunan, patuloy na sinisikap ng PNP na itaguyod ang kalayaan na tinatamasa natin ngayon upang bigyang daan ang maunlad at masaganang buhay para sa lahat ng Pilipino (By working together with other sectors of society, the PNP strives hard to uphold and protect the freedom that we enjoy today to pave the way for a more progressive and better future for all Filipinos),” Acorda said.
