Love is still possible for people who are in the sunset of their lives. And with every closed chapter, there is always a new beginning.

This seems to be the case for acclaimed actor-director Ricky Davao, who attended the early access premiere of his latest movie with fellow multi-awarded artist Gina Alajar entitled "Monday First Screening" at the EVM Convention Center in Quezon City.

Produced by the newly-formed NET25 Films and directed by Benedict Mique, it is a touching story about two senior citizens who meet while sharing popcorn in a movie house and get another chance to love.

Ricky brought along his non-showbiz girlfriend named Malca to the premiere. This doused the possibility of reconciling with his estranged wife, actress Jackie Lou Blanco, who said in an earlier interview with TV host Boy Abunda that she regretted splitting up with her husband of more than 20 years because it affected their children. The marriage of the two has yet to be annulled.

"It happens. We all have to move on. We have regrets, and we move on," Ricky commented.

(Of course, when you age, you look for somebody to talk to, a companion, someone to share things with. The kids grow up and have their own lives to live. The kids are still there to listen, and they don't only listen, they also sometimes interfere.)

Ricky revealed that his three grown-up children with Jackie Lou have met his girlfriend, and they call her " tita."

He noted that having a girl who was not from showbiz wasn't his prime consideration in looking for a partner. " No matter what industry, when love hits you, it just happens."

Gina, on the other hand, expressed her gratitude to the producers for choosing her and Ricky. Although both of them have been paired several times before, it is their first time to portray the role of an elderly lovestruck couple who keeps their hearts young.

Unlike Ricky, Gina said she is not ready to fall in love in real life. Her marriage to actor Michael de Mesa was annulled in 2006, and she has not remarried since.

"I haven't found love because I'm not praying for it. I'm not ready. I'm enjoying the life I have now. I don't have a responsibility to anyone except my grandchildren, who I love dearly," the award-winning actress and director stressed.

"Monday First Screening"  is the heartwarming tale of Bobby, a retired architect, (played by Ricky), and Lydia  (Gina Alajar)  - a retired professor - whose paths cross because they went to watch the free movie for seniors offered by their local cinema. It also stars Ruby Ruiz, Soliman Cruz,  Reign Parani, Allen Abrenica. Ian Ignacio, Joy Cerro and David Shouder.
