CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – The Police Regional Office-1 headed by Police Brig. Gen. John Chua joined the nation in celebrating the 125th anniversary of Philippine independence on Monday, June 12, with the theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan” (Freedom. Future. History).
Philippine National Police chief Police Gen. Benjamin C. Acorda Jr. urged the PRO-1 to promote the spirit of unity and love for country as a reward and sign of gratitude to all the heroes who have fought for the nation’s independence.
Acorda also recognized the dedication and sacrifice of every PNP personnel to their duty in making the community safe and peaceful and as a great model of discipline and professionalism.
The four provinces comprising the Ilocos region – Ilocos Sur and Norte, Pangasinan, and La Union – participated in the simultaneous flag-raising ceremony for Independence Day.
Chua led the ceremonial releasing of white dove as a symbol of peace and unity in the whole PRO-1 and in honor of the country’s heroes.
