'Chedeng' exits PAR; Habagat to cause rainshowers, thunderstorms in the country
By Dhel Nazario
Severe tropical storm Chedeng (international name Guchol) exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday, June 12, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
Chedeng has been downgraded to a severe tropical storm and was last spotted 1,550 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon. It packs maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 135 kph.
However, monsoon rains will still be experienced in the Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan. Pagasa warned against possible flash floods or landslides due to heavy to at times intense rains.
On the other hand, Metro Manila, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Abra, Benguet, the rest of Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Occidental Mindoro, and Northern Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon or "Habagat".
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by Habagat and localized thunderstorms.
