CAMP RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – Police reported on Independence Day the arrest of eight wanted persons, including two most wanted individuals, in the Caraga region last week.
According to the Police Regional Office-13 Regional Operations Division (ROD), the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO) arrested six wanted persons while the Butuan City Police Office and Surigao del Norte PPO captured one each.
A man charged with 31 counts of rape and listed as Agusan del Norte’s Top 1 Most Wanted Person (MWP) and another individual tagged as Top 9 MWP on the regional level were arrested in separate manhunt operations in Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur on Thursday, June 8.
PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Pablo G. Labra II cited the apprehension of the suspects.
“By locating and apprehending these fugitives, we prevent further harm to innocent individuals and thereby provide a sense of security to our communities,” Labra said.
“The act of bringing them to justice holds them accountable for their actions and sends a strong message that criminal behavior will not be tolerated,” he told Manila Bulletin on the sidelines of the 125th Independence Day celebration here.
“Our tracker teams continue to step up their efforts to locate the whereabouts of these fugitives and arrest them for the commission of crimes,” he said.
“We ensure the public that our law enforcement operations put premium to respect for human rights.”
