The day-long job fair in a mall was opened by Mayor John Dalipe, Department of Labor and Employment-Zamboanga Peninsula Director Albert Gutib, and other DOLE officials.

“By prioritizing labor rights and welfare, we empower our workers to contribute to the development of our city,” said Dalipe in his message.

The job fair offered thousands of local and foreign job opportunities as this city makes strides in its recovery from the pandemic.

The opening of the job fair with the theme “Malayang Trabaho Job Fair 2022” coincided with the launching of a DOLE program promoting child labor-free Philippines.

Under the program, P1.2-million worth of livelihood assistance was distributed to some 40 parents of child laborers here.

The funds will cover the setting up of mini-businesses such as rice retail, “sari-sari” or community convenience store, charcoal retail, and snack stalls.
