2 killed in Ilocos Sur road accidents

CANDON CITY, Ilocos Sur – Two persons died in separate road accidents in this city and Cervantes, this province, on Sunday, June 11. Police identified the first victim as Dennis Dacumos, 57, of Barangay Rosario, Cervantes. Investigation said Dacumos jumped out of the jeepney he was riding after the driver, Arnold Villanueva, 43, of Barangay San Juan, Cervantes, lost control of the vehicle due to brake failure while negotiating a sharp curve on the Cervantes-Suyo Road in Sitio Natukyudan, Barangay Malaya. The jeepney overturned and hit Dacumos who sustained serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital where he died. Police identified the other victim as Ivann Pascua, 20, of Barangay San Isidro, here. Pascua lost control of his motorcycle on the national highway in Barangay Langlangca 1st and rammed a concrete barrier then plunged into a 20-feet deep creek along with his vehicle. The victim sustained severe injuries and died upon reaching the hospital.
