110K work opportunities open at DOLE's Independence Day job fairs


Up to 110,000 positions have been opened for job seekers on Monday, June 12, as the country celebrated the 125th Philippine Independence Day.

In a statement, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) disclosed that thousands of work opportunities were made available at its Araw ng Kalayaan Job Fairs.

"Aabot sa higit 110,000 trabaho ang available sa job fairs na idaraos ng Department of Labor and Employment sa iba’t ibang panig ng bansa sa Araw ng Kalayaan (Up to 110,000 positions were made available at the job fairs conducted by DOLE in different parts of the country during the Independence Day celebration)," the agency disclosed.

"Karamihan sa mga available na trabaho ay nasa administrative and support services, manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, at repair of vehicles, and motor (Most of the job opportunities are under administrative and support services, manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, at repair of vehicles, and motor)," it went on.

All regions in the country had venues for the DOLE job fairs.

In National Capital Region, the venues were at SM City Grand Central in Caloocan City, Rizal High School Gymnasium in Pasig City, SM City Marikina, SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, Parañaque City Hall Gymnasium, Vista Mall in Taguig City, SM Southmall in Las Piñas City, Robinsons Las Piñas, SM City North EDSA in Quezon City, SM City Novaliches in Quezon City, SM City Fairview in Quezon City, and SM City Sta. Mesa in Quezon City.

In the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), the locations were at Porta Vaga Mall in Baguio City and SM City Baguio.

In Ilocos Region (Region 1), job seekers headed to Robinsons Ilocos in Ilocos Norte, Candon Civic Center in Ilocos Sur, Manna Mall in La Union, Don Leopoldo Sison Convention Center in Pangasinan, Nepo Mall in Dagupan City, SM Center Dagupan, SM City Rosales in Pangasinan (held last June 11), and CB Mall in Urdaneta City; while those from Cagayan Valley (Region 2) went to SM City Tuguegarao, SM City Cauayan, and Robinsons Santiago.

In Central Luzon (Region 3), the job fairs were at SM City Balanga in Bataan, Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium, Robinsons Townsville in Cabanatuan City, Telebastagan in Pampanga, SM City Tarlac, and SM City Olongapo Central.

In CALABARZON (Region 4A), the event was held at the Lyceum of the Philippines University - Batangas; while MIMAROPA (Region 4B) job fairs were at Western Philippines University in Palawan (held last June 7), Western Philippines University in Puerto Princesa City (last June 9), NCCC Mall in Puerto Princesa City (this June 19) STI College in Puerto Princesa City (this June 20), and Municipal Covered Plaza in Occidental Mindoro.

Job seekers got a chance to apply in SM City Sorsogon, SM City Legazpi, and SM City Naga, all in Bicol Region (Region 5); SM City Bacolod in (Western Visayas) Region 6; SM Seaside City Cebu and Robinsons Place Dumaguete in Central Visayas (Region 7); Robinsons North in Tacloban City in Eastern Visayas (Region 8); KCC Mall de Zamboanga in Zamboanga Peninsula (Region 9); SM CDO Downtown Premier in Northern Mindanao (Region 10); SM City Davao, Carmen Municipal Gymnasium in Davao del Norte (on June 13), University of Mindanao-Panabo Campus in Davao del Norte (on June 14), and University of Southern Philippines-Tagum Campus in Davao del Norte (on June 15), all in Davao Region (Region 11); SM City Gen. Santos in Soccsksargen (Region 12); and SM City Butuan and Provincial Capitol in Agusan del Sur, both in Caraga (Region 13).

"All jobseekers are advised to regularly check the social media pages and websites of their respective DOLE Regional Office for additional announcements," the DOLE website stated.
