After making his directorial debut with “Katips” and “Ako Si Ninoy," director and actor Vince Tañada has another film on the way that includes former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
During his intimate press conference at the V Place in Sampaloc Manila last June 1, Vince gave a little glimpse of what he has prepared for the film.
“Alam niyo naman po natin na si Isko ang bida ko ngayong sa bago kong pelikula na “ Hiwaga”, ang maganda dito kasi hindi lang isang pelikula ang gagawin namin kundi series of movies ang gagawin namin ni Isko, kasama din namin dito ang Scott Media Production," Vince says.
(You all know that Isko is my star now in my new movie "Hiwaga", the good thing about this is that we will not only make one movie but Isko and I will make a series of movies, Scott Media Production is also with us)
According to Vince, they are now in the process of completing the principal photography of the flick, after his team went to the recent Marche du Film at the Cannes Film Festival to promote their two films.
“Tuloy pa rin po ang aming shooting na naiwan namin bago kami pumunta ng Cannes, tinatapos na po namin principal photography. Ito po ay children’s fantasy at tungkol po ito filipino folklore, na talaga namang pinagbubuhusan namin ng sobrang trabaho dahil para ito sa mga kabataang Pilipino,’’ he says.
(Our shooting that we left before we went to Cannes is still going on, we are finishing principal photography. This is a children's fantasy and it's about Filipino folklore, which we put a lot of work into because it's for young Filipinos)
He also adds that the film will focus on the POV of well-known Filipino folklore such as Tikbalang and Aswang. Vince also revealed that Isko will be playing the role of ''Talim'', while his son Joaquin is one of the monster hunters in the film.
Marché du Film
Aside from the upcoming project, Vince also shares his recent success in presenting his film at the Marché du Film at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
According to him, they were able to show his two films, which got positive feedback from International producers and distributors.
''Unahin ko po muna yung reaction sa ''Ako si Ninoy'' napakaganda po because there were a lot of film enthusiats, producers and distributors. In fact we have already close a deal a distribution ng ''Ako si Ninoy," he says.
(Let me first start with the reaction to ''Ako si Ninoy'' It was very good because there were a lot of film enthusiasts, producers, and distributors. In fact, we have already closed a deal a distribution of ''Ako si Ninoy'')
Aside from ''Ako Si Ninoy," they also did a world premiere of their new film ''The Embalmer".
During the same press conference, Vince thanks Evelyn Vargas-Knaebel, co-owner of Maison ZBZ Production for getting their film on the Marché du Film.
''I am just so proud and happy na nabigayan kami ng pagkakataon na makarating doon and dahil yun sa Maison ZBZ Productions," he says.
