Albay folk told anew to comply with warnings on Mayon

As Mayon Volcano remains restive, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) echoed President Marcos' call for residents in surrounding areas to heed the call of their local government units (LGUs) to evacuate. *Mayon Volcano (Phivolcs)*

The PCO made this reminder via Facebook after the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a volcanic earthquake and 177 rockfall events from the volcano on Sunday, June 11. In its post, the PCO said entering the six-kilometer danger zone remains prohibited and reminded the residents to evacuate. "Pinapaalalahanan din ang lahat ng ating mga kababayang Bikolano na sumunod sa kanilang lokal na pamahalaan sa paglikas upang masiguro ang kanilang kaligtasan (We remind our fellowmen in Bicol to comply with their LGU and evacuate to ensure their safety)," it wrote. On June 10, President Marcos called on residents that would be affected by the possible hazardous eruption of Mayon Volcano to follow the orders of their local government officials to ensure their safety in light of Albay being placed under a state of calamity. The President said that the national government, through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), is providing immediate assistance and support for those affected by the volcanic eruption. This assistance includes the P114-million Quick Response Fund from the DSWD Central Office, a P5-million standby fund from the DSWD Field Office (FO) Region 5, and the 179,000 family food packs (FFPs) available in Disaster Response Centers. The DSWD also readied P67.8 million in other DSWD FOs, which may support the relief needs in affected areas due to Mayon Volcano seismic activity through inter-FO augmentation. The agency said that some 814,758 FFPs are also available in other DSWD FOs, which may support the relief needs in affected areas. Around P1.04 billion worth of other food and non-food items are also available at the National Resource Operations Center in Pasay City, Visayas Disaster Resource Center, and DSWD FO warehouses.
