Pampanga in-city housing project to benefit 8,300 homeless families

At least 8,300 informal settler families (ISFs) and low-income earners in Pampanga will soon have their own homes as the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) pushes through with the housing project in City of San Fernando.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said the project, of the Crystal Peak Homes in Barangay Del Carmen, is situated on an eight-hectare hectare land where around 30 condominium-type 12-story buildings will be constructed.

“It is projected to generate more than 8,300 units measuring 25 to 28 square meter each,” said Acuzar.

Acuzar inspected the progress of the project along with Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) President Federico Laxa on Saturday, June 10.

“These site inspections help us monitor the actual situations on the ground, helping us not only to ensure the smooth and continuous implementation of the program but more importantly, assess the needs and propose improvements,”  said Acuzar.

Mandated by RA 11201 as the primary government agency responsible for the management of housing, human settlements and urban development, DHSUD leads the implementation of the “Pambansang Pabahay” which aims to address the housing backlog in the country pegged at more than 6.5 million units.

So far, DHSUD has already signed more than 140 memoranda of understanding and broken ground in 26 areas across the country for the flagship housing program.
