Representatives from the NCIP Central Office, along with Regional Offices 2, CAR, and Caraga, met with the DOT's Office of Special Concerns (DOT-OSC) on June 9 to further review proposals for pilot areas on tourism-related projects of the Indigenous Cultural Communities and Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) relevant to the "Katutubo-KAPWA" Project implementation. During the meeting, the NCIP and DOT reiterated their commitments to improving the project ideas to assist the ICCs and IPs in Regions 2, CAR, and Caraga. NCIP Chairperson Allen A. Capuyan also attended the meeting to show his appreciation to DOT Division Chief Toni Marcel Rimando and other representatives. He presented his views and vision for a possible establishment of a tourism and cultural highway in the ancestral domains to showcase the wonders and exceptional beauty of each ancestral domain's rich cultural heritage and traditional practices.  This means that it is viable for DOT-accredited travel agencies to include ancestral domains in their travel package offerings to foreign and local tourists.
