Man drowns in Sinucalan River in Pangasinan

SANTA BARBARA, Pangasinan -- A man drowned while catching fish along the Sinucalan River in Barangay Minien West here on Saturday, June 10. The Santa Barbara police identified the victim as Elmer Abuel Quitoles, 43, a resident of Barangay Catablan, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan. The victim’s cousin, identified as George Arayat Quitoles, told the police that they were catching fish in the Sinucalan River when they decided to stop due to heavy rains. However, the victim found himself in a deep portion of the river and drowned. Responding personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office-Santa Barbara rushed the victim to the Mapandan Community Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
