Herbosa: Human resources, medical supplies dispensed for Mayon Volcano-affected individuals
Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Dr. Teodoro "Ted" Herbosa reported on Sunday, June 11, that human resources and medical supplies were already dispensed and on standby for the residents affected by the ongoing unrest of Mayon Volcano in Albay.

In a media forum, Herbosa said that 167 human resources from the DOH Regional Office were deployed to assist the evacuees in 18 active evacuation centers in the province. These evacuees, which summed up to a total of 1,888 families, or 6,314 individuals, were from Bacacay, Santo Domingo, Tabaco, Camalig, Daraga, Legazpi, Guinobatan, Ligao, Malilipot, the DOH chief said. The DOH Bicol Center for Health Development and DOH Operations Center have also been monitoring the situation non-stop since June 8, he added. There was also P20,000 worth of medicines distributed in Tabaco, and medical teams from Bicol Medical Center are on standby for any volcano-related emergencies. Moreover, the DOH warehouses in Bicol also have a stockpile of assorted medicines, anti-venom drugs, face masks, hygiene kits, and blood supplies.

Herbosa reiterated that a "code blue" alert status had already been raised in all hospitals, including non-DOH hospitals, in Albay. "DOH Code Blue Alert is a response level alert for agency resource mobilization. This means that teams have been mobilized to augment existing regular day-to-day resources. Likewise, logistics are mobilized to affected areas or to treat patients," the agency said. The agency has also coordinated with Bicol Medical Center to fast-track assistance to patients who will be admitted due to Mayon Volcano.
