* Teodoro particularly cited the efforts of the DND Proper for the continued certification of its quality management system (QMS), the Defense System of Management (DSOM), under the ISO 9001:2015 standards. External auditors from the SGS Philippines – a testing, inspection and certification company – conducted the surveillance audit last June 9. The audit was done onsite, unlike previous third party audits from 2020 to 2022 that had to be conducted remotely due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The auditors concluded that the DND QMS “systematically achieved the requirements of the audit standard,” according to DND spokesperson Arsenio Andolong. “Consequently, they [auditors] will be submitting a recommendation for the agency’s continued certification,” Andolong stated. Meanwhile, Teodoro stressed that the achievement was crucial to his vision of establishing a stronger defense organization, and attributed the success to the “commitment and hard work” of the One Defense Team to sustain the QMS. The ISO 9001 certification is awarded to organizations that demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
