This was why, to mark this year’s 125th Independence Day commemoration, European Union Ambassador to Manila Luc Veron made sure that his outfit would reflect the vibrant Philippine cultural heritage and tradition.

Veron, in a Twitter post, shared photos from his fitting of two exquisite traditional barongs, showing his stylish side.

In the same post, the ambassador created his own poll for Filipinos to help him choose which Barong Tagalog he should wear on Philippine Independence Day on Monday, June 12.

“Cast your vote in the thread below to let me know which Barong you think best celebrates (Philippine) rich culture and traditions,” Veron wrote in his caption with hashtags #PhilippineIndependenceDay #LucLoves.

“Together, let's make this celebration even more special! #PickTheBarong #ProudHeritage,” he said.

In the photos, Veron showcased a couple of silk jusi barongs with embroidered design in the front.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will host the traditional Independence Day Vin d’Honneur for foreign dignitaries in Malacañang on Monday evening after his attendance to the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony in Rizal Park, Manila.

According to the Official Gazette, the Vin d’Honneur is an official reception for the diplomatic corps held twice a year – after New Year’s Day and on the country’s Independence Day on June 12.
