A total of 58 new immigration officers will soon be deployed in various airports across the country after they completed the training program, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Sunday, June 11.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the graduates of the Philippine Immigration Academy are composed of 36 female and 23 males.
He said majority of the new immigration officers will be stationed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport while some would be deployed to  airports in Clark, Kalibo, Cebu, and Zamboanga.
During the graduation ceremony, lawyer Agnes VST Devanadera, president and CEO of the Clark Development Corporation highlighted the significance of the immigration officers' role in combating crimes like human trafficking and preventing the entry of undesirable foreign visitors.
Furthermore, Devanadera urged the BI administration to provide continuous training and updates to the frontliners, emphasizing the evolving nature of international crimes.
