Dottie Ardina carded a one-under-par 70 to trail solo leader Danie Holmqvist of Sweden by six strokes after two rounds in the ShopRite LPGA Classic in Galloway, New Jersey Saturday, June 10.
Coming off an opening 67 for ninth place, Ardina stumbled with two bogeys against a birdie in the first 11 holes before firing back-to-back birdies on Nos. 12 and 13 to post a two-day total of 137. She tied with Lee Jeongeun and Georgia Hall, who registered 68 and 71. Tokyo Olympian Bianca Pagdanganan, for her part, made the cut with a similar 70 for a 141 aggregate to trail Holmqvist by 10 shots. Pagdanganan, who started her bid with a 71, blasted three birdies against a bogey 4 on No. 7 in the first 10 holes before stumbling with bogeys on the 11th and 14th to tie with 12 others at 43rd place. Holmqvist, meanwhile, held on to her early lead by following up her opening-round 64 with a 67 for 131. After shooting three birdies and a bogey on the front nine, the Swedish golfer had a rollercoaster back nine with four birdies and two bogeys. Korean Hyo Joo Kim trailed Holmqvist by one shot after a scorching 65 capped by three birdies in her last five holes, while Ashleigh Buhai made her title campaign felt by propelling from 25th to solo third with a similar 65.
