Top executives of PCSO and PhilHealth were present during the
turnover held at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City on June 8.
Director Jennifer Liongson-Guevara and PCSO Assistant General Manager for the Charity Sector Larry Cedro presented the check to PhilHealth executives Eli Dino D. Santos, Renato L. Limsiaco Jr., and Ma. Emily P. Roque.
PCSO General Manager Mel Robles said "the amount would be remitted to the Bureau of Treasury and will cover the agency's contribution for the 4th Quarter of 2022 and January-February 2023 to Universal Health Care."
Robles also reiterated PCSO's commitment to support the goal of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. to improve the country's public healthcare system.
"By providing quality treatment and necessary medical assistance to our poor countrymen," Robles said.
Per Republic Act 11223 or the UHC Act, PCSO must allocate 40 percent of its charity fund to support the national government's health program.
PCSO said it already surpassed the annual target sales amounting to P46.1 billion by 125 percent --- generating P57,398,945,550.90 revenue from its various gaming products such as Lotto, Digit Games, Small Town Lottery, Instant Sweepstakes, and Keno in 2022.
The revenue growth was attributed to the partnership of PCSO with the Philippine National Police (PNP) to stop the proliferation of illegal gambling.
