“The cathedral will give the public access to areas that are usually off-limits such as the side chapels, crypt, and the choir loft from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.,” said Manila Cathedral rector Monsignor Rolly Dela Cruz.
“The open house aims to make the people appreciate the Manila Cathedral’s rich history and contributions to culture. By making those otherwise-restricted areas accessible to the people, they will hopefully appreciate the effort that went into its reconstruction,” the Church leader added.
Free guided tours will be available at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for those who wish to learn more about the cathedral’s history.
Holy masses will be celebrated at 7:30 a.m. and at 12:10 p.m. There will also be a Pipe Organ Mini-concert at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The Manila Cathedral will hold the open house again after three years because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
