Construction of P1.70-B irrigation project in Cagayan underway
SANTO NINO, Cagayan – The National Irrigation Administration held the groundbreaking ceremony for the P1.70-billion Calapangan Small Reservoir Irrigation Project in Barangay Abariongan Uneg here on Saturday, June 9.

Around 1,715 hectares of land here and Lasam, this province, will be irrigated and 887 farmers and their families will benefit from the project. Residents of beneficiary barangays here and Lasam thanked the government for the project. According to NIA, the project will not only help farmers but also supports the government's agricultural programs and ensure food security which is one of the advocacies of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. The 17th Infantry Battalion is providing security for the project against the New People’s Army.
