'Chedeng' maintains strength as it moves north-northeastward of PH Sea
Typhoon Chedeng (international name: Guchol) has maintained its strength as it moves north-northeastward of the Philippine Sea at 20 kilometers per hour (km/h), said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in its 5 p.m. bulletin on Saturday, June 10.

Based on its 4 p.m. data, the center of the eye of Chedeng was estimated at 870 km east of Extreme Northern Luzon. It has maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h near the center, with gustiness of up to 185 km/h. No tropical cyclone wind signals were raised in any parts of the archipelago. Chedeng will not likely bring heavy rainfall over the country in the next three days, but the southwest monsoon, or "habagat," will bring occasional rains over the western portions of Luzon and Visayas in the same time period. PAGASA also warned of gusty conditions in the following dates and areas due to enhanced habagat: Saturday, June 10: Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, Zambales, Bataan, Camiguin, and Dinagat Islands. Sunday, June 11: Ilocos Region, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Abra, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, and Northern Samar. Monday, June 12: Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Marinduque, Romblon, Occidental Mindoro, the northern portion of Palawan including Calamian, Cuyo, and Kalayaan Islands, Antique, and Aklan. Chedeng may also bring moderate to rough seas (2.0 to 3.5 m) over the seaboards of Extreme Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of mainland Northern Luzon, said PAGASA. "Mariners of small seacrafts are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea. If inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels, avoid navigating in these conditions," the agency added. The typhoon is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Sunday late evening or Monday early morning. It is seen to maintain its strength within the next 12 hours before entering a weakening trend tomorrow.
