PBBM mourns Negros Oriental Gov. Guido Reyes' passing; he was Degamo's successor

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. joined other officials in mourning the death of Negros Oriental Governor Carlo Jorge Joan “Guido” Reyes, whom he said served the people of the province “so faithfully.”

Marcos expressed profound sympathy and sincere condolences for Reyes’ death in a Twitter post on Thursday, June 1.
The Chief Executive said he was “deeply saddened” by the demise of Reyes, who succeeded slain Gov. Roel Degamo in March.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the people of the province he served so faithfully. May his legacy continue to inspire and his memory be cherished,” he said.
Reyes was the second governor to die in office this year after he succumbed to a terminal illness on Wednesday, May 31. He was 62.
Negros Oriental Vice Gov. Manuel Sagarbarria assumed Reyes’ post hours after he passed away.
