P30-M worth of marijuana plants uprooted, burned in 2 plantations in Kalinga, Benguet
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Authorities discovered – and destroyed – P30,000,000 worth of marijuana plants in two separate plantations in Kalinga and Benguet on Wednesday, May 31.
Joint personnel of the Provincial Drug Enforcement and Intelligence Unit of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office (lead unit) raided a plantation in a communal forest in Barangay Buscalan where a total of 90,000 fully grown marijuana plants were found.
The raiders uprooted and burned right away the prohibited plants with an estimated worth of P18,000,000.
In Benguet, the Kibungan Municipal Police Station, together with Barangay Kagawad Rafael Macanas, also destroyed a marijuana plantation in Sitio Bang-ay, Lebeng, Badeo, Kibungan.
The operatives also recovered four bundles of dried marijuana stalks weighing 100 kilograms.
Wrapped in transparent plastic cellophane and apparently ready for distribution, the marijuana stalks were estimated to be worth P12,000,000.
