Ilocos Norte woman dies in tricycle-motorcycle collision

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – A 42-year-old woman died while three others were injured in a collision between a motorcycle and tricycle in Ilocos Norte on Wednesday, May 31. Police identified the victim as Charito Rosqueta Valdez, 42, a resident of Barangay 7, Caunayan, Batac City. The injured were Jesther Ramos Patoc, 24, driver of a Honda Click 125 motorcycle and his back rider Mjay Ramos Ramos, 19; Rudy Gappi Ortal, 63, tricycle driver, and a minor. Investigation said Oral’s tricycle was turning left in front of the Ilocos Norte Provincial Capitol at past 11 p.m. to Gilbert Bridge in Laoag City with the minor and Valdez as passengers when Patoc’s motorcycle appeared from the opposite lane and accidentally rammed the tricycle. Due to impact of the collision, the occupants of both motor vehicles sustained injuries. They were taken to the nearest hospital where Valdez was declared dead on arrival.
