DOT eyes 6,000 FSBE tourism workers in Eastern Visayas
TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Tourism in Eastern Visayas aims to train a total of 6,000 tourism workers for the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence in 2023.
This quota was given by the DOT Central Office in Manila from its target of 100,000 trained individuals for 2023.
DOT-8 Director Karina Rosa Tiopes said having more events and increasing the number of tourist arrivals in the region depends on tourism workers.
"No matter how much hard work we put in, if you will not be treating our visitors well, they will only come here once," she said.
FBSE is a training provided by the DOT which is designed to promote exceptional service, best qualities, and positive values of Filipino hospitality in all tourism-related establishments in the country.
The FBSE was rooted in the seven Ms of core values that Filipinos are widely known for – "Malikhain, Makatao, Makakalikasan, Makabansa, Masayahin, May Bayanihan, and May Pag-asa."
It was likewise envisioned to enhance and uplift the quality of tourism services in the country aimed at fostering excellent service to tourists as part of the distinct Filipino brand, raising the quality of service standards among the workforce in key tourism and service sectors.
This week, more than 200 participants who are working in tourism-related industries like transport services, accommodation facilities, travel and tour companies, and restaurants attended the launching of FBSE in this city.
