Pasig graduate lauded for topping Mechanical Engineering Board Exams
A Pasig City student was recognized by the Pasig City local government on Monday, May 8, for attaining the highest score in the recently concluded 2023 Mechanical Engineering Board Exams.
Engr. Reynell Sanchez from the Rizal Technological University (RTU) garnered a score of 94.9 percent in the said examination. Sanchez' girlfriend, Eunice Durango Santiago, also ranked 6th in the examination.
Last March 2, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 3,774 out of 6,070 successfully passed the Mechanical Engineers Licensure Exam given by the Board of Mechanical Engineering in the National Capital Region, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, and Zamboanga.
As its way of giving due recognition to the exemplary Pasigueño, the city government passed an ordinance granting P100,000 to Sanchez for his achievement and a city commendation and certificate.
"We want to be a large community that supports and fosters excellence. Anuman ang larangan natin, engineer ka man tulad ni Engr. Reynell na nag number 1 sa board exams, congratulations. Isa ka mang atleta na nag gold, silver, at bronze or kahit hindi nag medal pero maganda pa din ang performance, yan ang gusto natin sa Pasig City (We want to be a large community that supports and fosters excellence. On whatever field we may be, either an engineer like Engr. Reynell who became the top 1 in the board exams, or an athlete who won gold, silver, bronze, or even if you're not a medalist but had performed well, that's what we want Pasig City to become)," Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said.
(Kami sa lokal na pamahalaan ay nandito para suportahan at i-foster ang culture of excellence sa lungsod ng Pasig (We, in the local government, are here to support and foster the culture of excellence in the city of Pasig)," he added.
The city government had earlier lauded its sports delegation for winning the second overall championship title in the “Palarong Panrehiyon” or the Regional Athletic Meet 2023 held last April 24 to 28.
The team ranked first runner-up in the overall results for both the elementary and secondary levels of the games.
They took home 78 medals (26 gold, 22 silver, 30 bronze) for the elementary level, 96 (41 gold, 21 silver, 34 bronze) for the secondary level, plus 14 for the Paragames category.
