P10-M road-widening project to boost tourism industry in Quirino
NAGTIPUNAN, Quirino – Tourists and visitors will soon have an easy travel to Landingan Viewpoint once the P10-million road-widening project along the Junction Abbag-Nagtipunan-Nueva Vizcaya via Dupax Road in Barangay Landingan, here is completed.
Department of Public Works and Highways-Quirino District Engineering Office (QDEO) officer-in-charge (OIC) District Engineer Arnold A. Sabug said that the department is eyeing a long-term investment on infrastructure.
This includes the improvement of primary and secondary roads linking to various tourist destinations in the province.
“Underpinning the department’s effort in bolstering the local economy, the district expects that said road network improvement of which Landingan Viewpoint is among the tourist spots beneficiaries would create a tourism value chain towards economic viability,” said Sabug.
The DPWH-QDEO started expanding the road in Barangay Landingan in 2021.
Because of the improvement, residents are thankful to the department as they are now benefiting from safer and more convenient roads especially the during holiday season.
Aside from Landingan Viewpoint, the project serves as major access to the numerous tourist spots within the southwestern portion of Nagtipunan, namely, Gibien Falls, Mactol Falls, and the rising Gawagan River Park.
The project was funded under the General Appropriations Act of Fiscal Year 2023.
This involves the construction of a 165-meter additional lane with shoulder on both sides of the existing carriageway and reinforced concrete retaining wall as slope protection structure and provision of Reinforced Concrete Pipe Culvert for drainage system.
