Mayor Wes, DA inaugurate new Kadiwa store in Valenzuela
Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie “WES” Gatchalian and Department of Agriculture (DA) Assistant Secretary Kristine Evangelista inaugurated a new Kadiwa store at Multipurpose Cooperative in Barangay Ugong, Valenzuela City on Tuesday, May 9.
The Alyansa ng mga Mamamayan ng Valenzuela (AMVA) Kadiwa store is a community program that offers affordable goods like vegetables and kitchen supplies.
It was established with the help of Enhanced Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita financial grant program.
The city government said the Enhanced Kadiwa program granted P1 million to support the construction of AMVA store.
“AMVA is one of the few organizations in Valenzuela City which was lucky to be granted with the P1,000,000 financial grant. It was given last March 13, 2023, which gave the organization approximately two months to establish the retail store,” it added.
Enhanced Kadiwa ensures that food commodities are made available and accessible for Filipinos families, particularly the low-income ones.
It seeks to harness participation of private sectors, capacity enhancement of farmer cooperatives and associations in food supply distribution system.
Meanwhile, Gatchalian said the profit of the store shares rebates for programs of AMVA Multipurpose Cooperative.
The AMVA Multipurpose Cooperative is a group that strives for greater workplace stability and high standards of welfare.
With the success of the first Kadiwa Store in Valenzuela last December, Gatchalian and DA encourage different organizations in the city to apply for the Kadiwa program to continuously improve the livelihood of the Valenzuelanos.
Gracing the event were Valenzuela City Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja, Councilor Niña Lopez, Housing and Resettlement Office (HRO) head Elenita Reyes, Local Economic Development and Investments Promotions Office head Annaliza Vitug, Public Employment Services Office (PESO) and Cooperative Development Office (CDO) head Josephine Osea, and Barangay Ugong Chairman Ed Nazar, and the barangay council members.
