Cloudy, rainy in Batanes, Babuyan Islands; partly cloudy with isolated rain showers throughout rest of PH
The frontal system and easterlies will be the dominant weather systems in the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, May 9.
According to PAGASA, the frontal system, a weather system where cold and warm air merge, will bring cloudy weather with rains to Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
It advised those in these areas to be cautious due to the possibility of flash floods or landslides during moderate to occasional heavy rains.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the rest of the country will remain partly cloudy to cloudy and warm, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms possible due to the presence of easterlies or warm air from the Pacific Ocean.
The public was also advised to exercise caution during severe thunderstorms, as these can result in landslides or flash floods, especially in areas that are vulnerable to these hazards.
Severe thunderstorms are frequently accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusts of wind, and occasionally hail.
No tropical cyclone is currently expected to develop or enter the country’s area of responsibility in the coming days, according to PAGASA weather specialist Daniel James Villamil.
