Carlos Yulo made up for his silver medal in rings by capturing the parallel bars gold medal, while teammates John Ivan Cruz and Juancho Miguel Besana ruled the floor exercise and vault apparatus at the National Olympic Stadium. Yullo tallied 14.850 ahead of Vietnamese Phuong Thanh Dinh (14.400) and Malaysian Ng Chun Chen (13.100) to become the first Filipino double gold medalist in this edition. He admitted he was challenged with his teammates' early victories so that the team could deliver as many gold medals as it can. “Nung nag-gold na sina Ivan at Miguel, gusto kong maka-gold din ngayon para tatlo na mauwi namin,” said Yulo, who earlier scored 14.000 for the rings silver. Cruz, meanwhile, followed the footsteps of his second cousin Yulo by winning the floor exercise gold in 13.850 while Besana dominated the vault in 14.425.
