Taytay Palawan Bishop Broderick Pabillo has called on the government to implement more programs and policies that will help improve the lives of the poor and the less fortunate.
Lower prices of goods and services, the bishop said, are not felt by the poor who need to have a steady source of livelihood and not merely reliant on dole-outs.
“In order to improve the lives of many Filipinos, there has to be consistency. There should be policies in place that are meant to help provide livelihood opportunities especially for the poor,” said Bishop Pabillo over Radio Veritas.
The country’s inflation rate improved to 6.6 percent in April compared to 7.6 percent that was recorded in March.
The Church leader said the government must implement laws that are meant to improve the lives of the people including policies that are not affected by the rising cost of goods and services.
Bishop Pabillo likewise encouraged the faithful to support the programs of the Church that are meant “to help provide help and assistance to the poor such as Pondo ng Pinoy which provides food and assistance to the poor including the homeless.”
“We need to share our resources to help the poor and the needy. We need to support programs like Pondo ng Pinoy to help in our small way the poorest of the poor,” the prelate said.
