There were no arrival honors for the first couple with the First Lady’s Instagram post hinting that they arrived late evening of Sunday.

“It feels good to be back home! (clapping emojis),” she wrote.

In an advisory sent to media by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Marcos was welcomed by the chief of protocol and Air Force officers. He arrived in Manila at 10:30 p.m.

The Marcoses, together with their delegation, were in the United States for a series of meetings—including those with US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris—and the United Kingdom to attend the coronation of King Charles III.

The First Lady revealed in her post that they are scheduled to leave again this week for the annual summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

“Can’t believe we have to unpack and then pack again for the upcoming ASEAN meet on Tuesday, May 9th,” she said.

The post was accompanied by a photo showing the Chief Executive wearing a dark red sweater over white shirt and a black baseball cap. The First Lady was behind him wearing a blazer over a black shirt.

Just a few hours after his arrival in the country, Marcos released a statement congratulating British couple King Charles III and Queen Camilla on their coronation.

“It was as grand and magnificent a ceremony as could have been, full of symbolism and weighted by history. It was a great honor for me to represent the Philippines on such a historic occasion,” the statement read.

He shared that the King inquired about his mother, former first lady Imelda Marcos and recounted “fond memories” of them.

The couple is expected to leave for Indonesia on Tuesday, May 9, for the regional meeting that will tackle Myanmar’s ongoing humanitarian crisis, among others.
