DOH records 9,465 new Covid-19 cases, average daily cases up by 112% in the past week

The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday, May 8, a total of 9,465 new Covid-19 cases that were recorded in the past week.
In its weekly case bulletin, DOH said that daily average cases went up to 1,352 which is 112 percent higher than the case from April 24 to April 30.
DOH recorded 50 more individuals tagged under severe and critical cases. Currently, there are 410 severe and critical admissions which is 8.2 Â percent of total Covid-19 admissions.
On the other hand, 346 out of 2,097 or 16.5 percent of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds are being used, while 3,766 out of 17,758 or 21.2 percent of non-ICU beds are being utilized.
Meanwhile, DOH also verified nine more deaths due to Covid-19 during the past week. It mentioned that no deaths occurred from April 24 to May 7.
Of the nine deaths, one occurred in April 2023, two in March 2023, one in September 2022, four in August 2022, and one in July 2022.
In terms of Covid-19 vaccination, DOH stated that due to ongoing migration of the Vaccine Information Management System (VIMS) by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the DOH-Epidemiology Bureau will not be able to generate updated vaccine accomplishment until said migration has been resolved.
"Rest assured that any data submitted or edited through the VIMS application are still accepted and duly processed," DOH said.
