2 Indonesians held for cigarette smuggling in Sarangani

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard arrested two Indonesians for transporting smuggled cigarettes onboard a motorized banca in Maasin, Sarangani on Saturday, May 6.

Capt. Mitch Ursabia, Coast Guard District Southern Mindanao spokesperson, said Fadli Machamud and Fajar Antari yielded 20 boxes of cigarettes valued at P600,000 from Tinakarang, Indonesia.

Ursabia said charges for violation of the Customs Tariff Act will be filed against the suspects who are detained at the Maasin police station.
