Marcos said this as the Philippines celebrated National Health Workers Day on May 7.

In a tweet, Marcos recognized the selflessness of health workers and expressed that the country was proud of them.

He added that his administration is always ready to support them.

"Isang pagpupugay sa lahat ng ating mga health worker na walang sawang naglilingkod sa kabila ng pagsubok na dala ng Covid-19 (I pay tribute to all our health workers who tirelessly serve despite the challenges brought by Covid-19)," Marcos said.

"Labis namin kayong ipinagmamalaki kaya naman asahan ninyong handa ang inyong pamahalaan na suportahan kayo (We are truly proud of you that's why you can expect that the government is ready to support you)," he added.

Prior to his message, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) expressed its gratitude for the tireless dedication of the country's healthcare workers, but Filipinos online think that giving them higher pay is a better show of appreciation.

Last month, Marcos said that the Philippines had become the victim of its success, citing the emigration of nurses and doctors.

To address this, he said the Philippines should adjust and find other ways to keep their healthcare workers.

"We have to give them at least equal opportunities at home," he said.
