ECHO asserted its mastery of Blacklist International, winning in another dominant 4-0 fashion in the grand finals to reign supreme in the MPL Philippines Season 11 before a huge and wild crowd at the SMX Convention Center on Sunday, May 7.
Karl “Karltzy” Nepomuceno, Alston “Sanji” Pabico, Benedict “BennyQT” Gonzales, Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera and finals MVP Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya all displayed their M4 form as ECHO won its very first MPL title. The Orcas simply had the Codebreakers numbers all throughout the season as ECHO swept all of its series matchups against Blacklist from the regular season to the playoffs, stretching the team’s winning streak over the M3 titlists to four games including the sweep of the M4 Grand Finals. A strong series opener set the tone for the rout as Yawi on the Lolita enabled his damage dealers in Sanji’s Pharsa and Karltzy’s jungle Lancelot. Yawi finished with a 0-2-12 line while Sanji and Karltzy had a perfect 5-0-0 and 5-0-5 lines respectively. In the 15-4 Game 1 win. The Orcas then followed up the impressive opening with a 16-7 decision in the second game. Sanford this time led the charge with a 5-3-3 line on the Lapu Lapu all while creating the space for BennyQt’s Beatrix who wound up with a 5-0-4 KDA. If that was not enough, ECHO then continued to destroy Blacklist in the third game, picking up a 22-5 KDA victory to move one win away from the title. Sanford finished with a 4-0-10 KDA on the signature Joy pick, setting the tempo in the huge win. Smelling blood, ECHO showed no letup in Game 4, officially claiming the title with an 18-7 win.
