ZAMBOANGA CITY – Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos led the regional launching of the “Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan” program on Saturday, May 7, in this city.

Mayor John Dalipe and other Zamboanga Peninsula chief executives attended the whole-day program which included a parade, fun run, zumba, and other fun activities to demonstrate the unity of sectors in fighting the illegal drugs menace. The event culminated in a program at the Western Mindanao State University and a dialogue between the DILG Secretary and Zamboanga Peninsula chief executives. In his message, Abalos stressed the need for a collective action among all sectors to achieve a reduction in the demand for illegal drugs. Dalipe re-affirmed his support to the anti-illegal drugs campaign of the government. The BIDA program of the DILG espouses a holistic and strengthened campaign against illegal drugs to reduce drug demand in the communities.
