The 35-year-old Rodelas said he gave up his career as a high school English teacher to concentrate on honing his craft for the last four years. “Pangarap kasi ng nanay ko na maging teacher ako, pero tinupad ko yung parangap nya. Tinupad ko rin naman yung pangarap ko ngayon,” he said. Nephew of long jump queen Elma Muros-Posadas, Rodelas said he has been eyeing the SEAG gold medal after settling for the bronze in the 2019 edition held in Manila. At that time, the gold medal went to Kevin Jeffrey Pascua. It was a different scenario this time as Rodelas clinched his first SEAG gold with a time of 25.194 seconds ahead of Pascua, who went home with the silver with 26.814sec. “Nag-train ako ng four years, pinaghandaan ko talaga nang mabuti ito kaya sobrang saya,” said Rodelas. “Kahit na kalaban ko yung teammate ko. Relaxed lang kami. Walang pressure, walang kaba kasi whatever happens, Pilipinas pa rin ang ginto,” he added.
