Marcos said this after he met with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) executives upon his arrival in London for the coronation of King Charles III.

In a tweet on Saturday afternoon (Manila time), the President described his meeting with fund executives as "productive."

"We had a productive meeting with Global Infrastructure Partners, the company behind Gatwick Airport's exceptional infrastructure, technology, and operations, and were given a tour to explore some of their best practices firsthand," Marcos said.

With this, President Marcos said that the Philippines could be moving closer to having better airports.

"Our vision for safe, efficient, and sustainable airports in the Philippines is one step closer to reality!" he said.

"This learning experience has provided us with valuable insights as to how we can develop the truly world-class airports we aspire to build in the Philippines," he added.

Joining President Marcos in the meeting with GIP executives were Philippine Ambassador to the United Kingdom Teodoro Locsin Jr., House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista.

On its website, GIP said it was a leading global, independent infrastructure fund manager that "target[s] infrastructure businesses and assets in the energy, transportation, digital, water and waste sectors where we believe our expertise and relationships provide a competitive advantage."

Marcos' tour at the Gatwick Airport came days after Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 was hit by a power outage that caused flight cancelations and delays on Labor Day.

The Philippines will likewise shut down its airspace for two hours on May 17 to replace the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) unit of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP)'s air traffic management system.

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has said that the shutdown will affect flights at the NAIA, Clark International Airport, Mactan-Cebu International Airport, and several flights at 42 other commercially operated airports.
