'PBA on Tour' returns in pre-season tiff with Baliwag, Batangas, Dumaguete games set
The PBA is reliving its tradition of bringing the games closer to its fans during its pre-season tournament with matches set in Caloocan, Baliwag in Bulacan, Tiaong in Quezon, Dumaguete and Batangas every Saturday.
The PBA on Tour kicks off at the Caloocan Sports Complex on May 21 with a clash between NLEX and Blackwater ushering in the pre-season tiff which will feature all of the 12 teams. The series of exhibition games, which would also allow teams to assess their current lineup and keep players in shape, will run until July 30, making up for the league’s few months lull to give way to Gilas Pilipinas preparation for the FIBA 2023 World Cup. Based on the schedule released by the PBA, games happen on the usual league game days, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday with most happening at the Ynares Arena in Pasig, Ynares Center in Antipolo, Caloocan Sports Complex and UST gym. Saturday games will be played out of town – the first of which happening on June 3 in Baliwag, Bulacan featuring a clash between NLEX and Magnolia. The collision between Meralco and San Miguel will then take place in Tiaong, Quezon on June 10 before the Batangas City Coliseum hosts the duel between NorthPort and Ginebra a week later on June 17. The series of tours then concludes in Dumaguete City where the Negrenses can witness a marquee matchup between Magnolia and Rain or Shine. Teams will be allowed to field up to 17 players which may be composed of its regular players, free agents and rookie draft applicants and collegiate players if they can acquire a special permit from their respective schools and the Games and Amusement Board. It will be in a single-round robin format although no champion will be declared at the end of the tournament.
