COTABATO CITY – Authorities arrested two suspected drug pushers and seized shabu worth P3.4 million in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion 8 here on Thursday, May 4.
Suspects were identified as Solaiman Mohammad, 26, and Bayan Akmad, 42.
Seized from them were 500 grams of suspected shabu valued at P3.4 million.
PDEA-Region 12 (Soccsksargen or South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos area) Director Christian Frivaldo said the suspects belong to a big-time syndicate which supplies illegal drugs to areas within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.
Frivaldo said an unidentified cohort of the suspects was able to elude arrest during the operation.
Suspects are detained at the PDEA jail facility here and face drug-related charges.
Meanwhile, police have dismantled a drug ring operated by a father and son in Marawi City.
Lawmen armed with a search warrant swooped down on the house of the suspects Abdul Macarao and son Nasif in Barangay Poblacion, Marawi on Thursday and seized several grams of suspected shabu and several unlicensed firearms.
Police said the suspects were involved in gun-for-hire and gunrunning activities by providing firearms and ammunition to the Daulah Islamiyah local terror group during the Marawi siege in 2017.
Charges for illegal drugs and illegal possession of firearms will be filed against the suspects.
