Korean show ‘Jinny’s Kitchen’ airs last episode with stars answering questions from viewers


 “Jinny’s Kitchen” (aka “Seojin’s”), the unscripted Korean show, aired its 11th and final episode on May 5 with the stars answering questions from viewers. 

Aired on tvN in South Korea and streamed globally on Prime Video, “Jinny’s Kitchen” stars Lee Seo-jin, Jung Yu-mi, Park Seo-jun, Choi Woo-shik and BTS’ V who operate a Korean street food restaurant in Bacalar, Mexico.

In episode 10, the business operations of “Jinny’s Kitchen” ended with the crew garnering the highest daily sales of 12,070 Mexican pesos (about $670.54). 

In episode 11, the stars reunited after four months for a meal and answered questions sent by viewers. 

According to polling firm Nielsen Korea, episode 11 of “Jinny’s Kitchen” received a nationwide rating of 6.777 percent in South Korea, compared to 7.898 percent for episode 10, and maintained its No. 1 spot on paid platform subscription households (cable, IPTV and satellite). 

Based on the number of viewers, episode 11 of “Jinny’s Kitchen” was watched by 1.905 million people in South Korea, compared to 1.859 million for the previous episode. 

In the metropolitan area (Seoul, Gyeong-gi and Incheon) in South Korea, episode 11 got a rating of 7.763 percent, compared to 9.562 percent for episode 10. It was watched by 1.028 million people. 

On his experience working in “Jinny’s Kitchen,” BTS’ V said, “It was like running a restaurant that I felt comfortable around. I really loved it.” 

Park Seo-jun said what he liked about “Jinny’s Kitchen” was working with good people but he disliked it because he felt he was in the army. 

“Well, I kept feeling like I was in the army. I felt like I was in the military,” he said, adding that just like in the army, they had a fixed wake-up time in “Jinny’s Kitchen.”

“We had to walk on eggshells around the boss [Lee Seo-jin]. The dress regulations. The uniforms,” he added. 

When asked why did they open the restaurant at 2 p.m., Lee Seo-jin said, “We opened at 1 p.m. once and nobody came.” 

It was revealed that during the eight days of operation of the restaurant, they racked up a total of 63,290 Mexican pesos (about $3,563) in sales. Corn dog and kimbap were the most popular items on the menu based on sales.
