Karltzy admits being bothered by finger injury but tips hat off to Irrad after epic duel
Injuries are quite rare in the esports scene but the bug still hit M4 world champion ECHO and it came at the most crucial time.
ECHO star Karl “Karltzy” Nepomuceno suffered an infection on his ring finger which even needed a doctor’s attention just a day before the MPL Philippines Season 11 playoffs. With his ring finger heavily wrapped with bandage during the game, Karltzy managed to play through the injury in the heartbreaking 3-2 loss at the hands of RSG Slate Philippines although he admitted that it was bothering him all throughout the series. “Mayroon po siguro [impact yung injury sa performance ko], tingin ko. Like ngayon po masakit na tapos ngalay na and then pag in-game kumikirot yun,” shared Karltzy who, despite his situation, was able to lead ECHO to a 2-1 lead midway through the series. ECHO head coach Archie “Tictac” Reyes explained that the team’s preparation and strategies revolved around his main five, leaving him with no choice but to play Karltzy despite nursing the injury. Despite the injury, Karltzy is giving the credit to his counterpart John “Irrad” Tuazon who made a couple of outplays against the veteran jungler. “Malakas po siya. Tapos commended ko siya dun sa Game 4. Siguro di rin ako 100-percent kanina,” said KarlTzy. Karltzy, however, assured that he’ll be ready for their next game especially that they will be fighting for their tournament lives against Bren Esports in the lower bracket semifinals on Saturday, May 6.
