Gilas 3x3 teams begins redemption tour

The Gilas Pilipinas men’s and women’s teams begin their respective redemption tours in the pool play of the 3x3 basketball event in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games at the Morodok Techo National Stadium Elephant Hall 2 in Phnom Penh on Saturday, May 6.

* The PBA 3x3-backed men’s team is eyeing a sweep of its group stage in order to avoid an early collision with defending champion Thailand while the women’s team is hoping for a good start despite playing up against two podium finishers in the group stage. Almond Vosotros is expected to lead the men’s side that also has Lervin Flores, Joseph Eriobu and Joseph Sedurifa as they open their campaign against Laos at 10:20 a.m. before taking on last year’s silver medalist Vietnam (1:05 p.m.) and Indonesia (5 p.m.) On the distaff side, Jack Animam is joining hands with Afril Bernardino, Janine Pontejos and Mikka Cacho as they tangle against silver medalist Vietnam (9:20 a.m.) and Laos (12 p.m.) before wrapping up the assignment against gold medalist Thailand (3:40 p.m.)
