Enrile suggests 'total overhaul' of NAIA management

Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile would like a "total overhaul" of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) personnel amid the recent snafus at the country's main airport.

Enrile's suggestion came as he believed that "regardless if you put the best people in the position," the system was still "fragile."

His frustration stemmed from the two power outages that hit NAIA in January and May that left many passengers stranded for hours and adversely affected the country's airspace.

"Select the best and dedicated people for public service," he said in an interview with SMNI News on Saturday morning.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s chief lawyer said it was okay for the government to employ experts and pay them high salaries as long as they render quality service.

"Hindi pwedeng sweldo sweldo ka lang (It's not possible that you just get your salary). If I were the president, I'll kick you. You're bad," he said.
