The 32-year-old finished with a flawless record in the women’s ne-waza nogi 57kg to capture her third gold medal. Her previous victories came in different weight divisions – in the 55kg in the 2019 Manila edition and in the 62kg in the 2021 Vietnam meet. “Hindi lang halata pero ang sarap ng feeling kasi pangatlo ko na to sa SEAG,” said Ramirez, who highlighted her gold-medal triumph with a submission victory over Vietnam’s Thi Thuong Le. Her previous wins came at the expense of Thailand’s Grapa Senatham, 2-0, and Cambodia’s Mab Sokhovy, 50-0. Despite her experience in the biennial meet, Ramirez said she didn’t take her matches lightly. “Hangga’t di natatapos yung laban hindi naman sila pwedeng i-consider as nothing,” she said.
