2 men arrested for mauling jeepney driver in QC

Two suspects who attacked a jeepney driver were arrested by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Novaliches Police Station (PS 4) at the Bigte-Novaliches terminal in Barangay Nova Proper, Novaliches, Quezon City on Friday, May 5.

QCPD PS 4 Station Commander Lt. Col. Jerry Castillo identified the suspects as Glen Frey Lago, 33, and his brother Joseph Lago, 28, both jeepney drivers and residents of Barangay Mulawin, San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan.

According to the police report, the victim was alighting from his jeepney at 4 p.m. when the suspects confronted him about picking-up passengers.

Police said the confrontation led to an argument. He said Lago and his brother came close to the victim and punched him repeatedly.

PS 4 deployed personnel to respond after a concerned citizen reported the incident.

The suspects were immediately arrested. They will be charged with serious physical injuries before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, QCPD director, lauded the PS 4 operatives for their immediate response.

“Ito ang dahilan kung bakit kailangan nating paigtingin ang police presence sa ating komunidad upang agad na makaresponde ang kapulisan sa anumang insidente (This is the reason why we need to intensify the police presence in our community so that the police can immediately respond to any incident),” he said.
