Valenzuela LGU implements blended learning in public schools from May 4-5
The Valenzuela City government has started implementing the blended learning modality or the combination of in-person and online classes in the city’s public schools on May 4-5, in consideration of the students well-being and safety from soaring temperatures.
The Department of Education (DepEd) had earlier released through the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Operations, Memorandum No. 2023-077, on the implementation of modular distance learning during extreme weather conditions.
A new schedule of classes for elementary and secondary levels on May 4-5 was also released.
In-person classes in the morning will be held from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and will be followed by asynchronous classes (home-based learning) which will start from 10:31 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
For afternoon sessions, asynchronous classes start at 12:31 p.m. until 2:30 p.m,, while face-to-face classes will be conducted from 2:31 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The School Divisions Office (SDO)- Valenzuela said that home-based learning will be carried out through self-learning modules which includes students answering practice exercises; teacher’s lesson follow-up; consultation activities; distance learning activities using online meeting applications suc as Google Meet, MS Teams, Zoom, Facebook Messenger; and video lessons in Valenzuela Live through VC GuroAko Application which are online platforms used by the city for the education of the students especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. Changes in class schedules in private school in the city depends on the decision the school principal or administration, the local government said. The SDO-Valenzuela assured the public that it will be releasing weekly updates based on the daily temperature advisories from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, Astronomical, Services Administration (PAGASA). Meanwhile, parents and students were advised to monitor the announcements and updates from the heads of their respective schools.
